| What is Inipi? practiced by the Lakota People and the followers of Lakota traditions. A more commonly used term is "Sweat Lodge" or "Purification Lodge". Variations of this ceremony are common to almost all indigenous peoples across North America. Historically, Inipi was used to purify and prepare one's self prior to taking part in other ceremony or rites. More recently it has evolved into a significant ceremony in it's own right, and is used for prayer, cleansing, healing, and general wellness, in addition to it's historical usage.
